About The Author

 Nancy Vader-McCormick, Ph.D., is a scholar, educator, and consultant with over twenty-five years as an innovative teacher. She is in demand as a public speaker and staff development specialist for both profit and non-profit organizations. Her expertise includes engaging students through collaborative and active learning, academic service-learning, faculty development, and reflective practice.

Dr. Vader-McCormick currently serves as Coordinator of the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence and Professor of Communication at Delta College. She is founder of the President’s Speaker Series, the founding Director of Academic-Service Learning, and the co-founder of the Student Food Pantry at Delta College. Her publications include Academic Service-Learning: A Handbook for Faculty and Creativity: From the Inside Out. Dr. Vader-McCormick is recipient of numerous honors, including the prestigious Bergstein Award for Teaching Excellence, the Scholarly Achievement Award, and the Don Laughner Award for Creative Change, all at Delta College. Other awards include the Innovation of the Year Award from the League for Innovation in the Community College, the University of Florida Institute of Higher Education Outstanding Graduate Award, the LAND Institutional Award, and the Michigan Campus Compact’s Faculty and Staff Community Service-Learning Award.

Nancy earned a doctorate in administration in higher education from the University of Florida, two master’s degrees from Central Michigan University, and a B.S. from Western Michigan University. She has worked in higher education for nearly three decades, starting in student services and moving into academics. In addition to teaching at Delta College for nearly twenty years, he has also taught at Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. Nancy has developed training programs for business and industry, provided keynote presentations and sessions, and consulted for profit and non-profit entities.
